Face First

Overcoming specific fears and phobias with CBT

A phobia is the most treatable condition in all of mental health: one wrong lesson your alarm learned fast — and unlearns almost as fast when you stop protecting it. Pick your fear, build your ladder, and climb it rung by self-chosen rung, with your own fear-decay data proving the mechanism as you go.

Fear has a shape, too

  • One specific thing — heights, flying, spiders, dogs, needles, small spaces, driving, storms, being sick — and a life that quietly reroutes around it.
  • Planning trips, jobs, or doctor visits around whether the fear will show up.
  • Racing heart, shaking, the urge to bolt, just thinking about it.
  • Knowing, rationally, that the risk is small — and it not mattering at all in the moment.
  • It's been years, not weeks, and it hasn't faded on its own.

Your fear-ladder data drives the program

Not a course you watch — a loop you run. Face First reads your fear ratings and prescribes your next rung, the same way exposure therapy works in a therapist's office.

The weekly review reads your fear ratings and prescribes your next rung on the ladder you built.

A rung on your ladder clears once your fear rating hits 4 out of 10 or lower, on two separate attempts, with no props. Then the review prescribes your next rung. You choose the rung — the rung never chooses you.

The exposure specialist. Calm-under-fire, precise, gently confident — the voice you want when your alarm is screaming. Her warmth is in her steadiness.

Hi, I'm Elena. Over the next six weeks we're going to climb your ladder together — one rung you choose, cleared on your own data, never flooded, never rushed.
Bằng chứng khoa học

The most treatable condition in CBT, faithfully built

Graded exposure has the best outcome evidence of any CBT protocol — and specific phobia is the condition it treats fastest. Face First implements the standard protocol: a self-chosen ladder, climbed rung by rung, with applied tension added for needle and blood phobias where fainting is a real risk.

  • Graded in-vivo exposureÖst
  • Inhibitory-learning model of exposureCraske
  • Applied tension for blood-injury-injection phobiaÖst & Sterner
  • Relapse prevention
Measured like a clinic: your fear footprint check-in at baseline, midpoint, and finish — so your progress is a number you can see, not a feeling you have to argue yourself into.
Trung thực về vấn đề an toàn

We screen before we start

Exposure is always self-paced here, never flooded — you choose the rung, the rung never chooses you. The needles-and-blood track adds applied-tension training before any exposure, since fainting is a real risk unique to that phobia. Driving exposures check for a valid license, and medical flags — pregnancy, cardiac or vestibular conditions — adjust the physical rungs.

This program is not medical advice. We'd rather build the ladder safely than rush a rung you're not ready for.

Tại sao chúng tôi xây dựng theo cách khác

  • One ladder, built around your fear. Face First isn't a library of 16 phobia categories or a single-condition app you'd have to buy again for the next fear — it's one self-chosen ladder, climbed rung by rung on your own fear-decay data.
  • No hardware required. oVRcome and ZeroPhobia both depend on a VR viewer; Face First runs the full ladder — imaginal, video, and real-world exposure — without any equipment to buy or set up.
  • One price, no employer gate. $149 once, self-serve from day one — no VR headset, no employer benefit, no waiting on a health plan to offer it, unlike FearFighter's B2B-only access today.

Câu hỏi

Trước khi bạn bắt đầu

Do I need a diagnosis to use this?

No. Face First is built for the specific-fear pattern, not a chart code. The onboarding screen checks your fear profile and flags anything — like needle/blood phobia or driving exposures — that needs extra preparation first.

How is this different from general anxiety apps?

General anxiety tools give you calming techniques; Face First builds and climbs an actual exposure ladder against your own fear-decay data — the mechanism with the best evidence base in all of CBT, not a technique for the moment.

Will I be forced into exposures I'm not ready for?

No — the opposite. You choose every rung, and a rung only clears once your fear rating is 4 out of 10 or lower, twice, with no props. The program prescribes the next step; you decide if and when to take it.

How much time does it take?

A twenty-second check-in each evening, and ten minutes most days for the session. The real work happens in the climb itself — a few minutes actually facing the rung.
