Still Here

Living with grief and loss using DBT skills

Grief doesn't move in stages, and it isn't a problem this program is built to solve. It moves in waves — unpredictable, on no timetable anyone gets to set. Still Here teaches DBT skills for living alongside those waves: watching one crest and recede without fighting it or drowning in it, taking small, freely chosen steps back toward living without leaving the loss behind, and carrying a bond forward instead of being asked to close it.

Är det här du?

This is for you if

  • You're carrying a loss and tired of being told you should be further along.
  • The waves arrive without warning and on nobody's timetable.
  • People around you don't know what to say — or say the wrong thing confidently.
  • You've been offered stages, closure, or "moving on", and none of it fit.
  • You want skills for living alongside grief, not a promise it will end.
Hur det fungerar

Two logs that report, and never prescribe

Not a course you watch, and not a plan that tells you what to fix. Still Here keeps two records — the waves as they come, and the life still being built — and every weekly review reports them back without a single instruction.

1

Measure

A sixty-second grief-wave log whenever one comes, and a light daily note of any meaningful action — no schedule on the first, no pressure on the second.

as it happens + daily
2

Learn

Short sessions with Mika teach the method — waves not stages, mindfulness of a wave, acceptance aimed at the loss, and the words for other people.

Adjust

Nothing is adjusted. Every review reports what your logs show and stops there — deliberately, at every week.

weekly review · report only

the loop runs weekly — six times, reporting each time

Report onlyno target, at any week

Every other program here prescribes something — a rung, a ceiling, a focus for the week. This one prescribes nothing, on purpose. There is no ranked skill list, no recommended emphasis, and no number you're meant to move. Your logs build a record that the waves are real, that something helps sometimes, and that a life is still being built. That's the whole instrument.

Mika

DBT: mindfulness & acceptance · leder 4 program

The mindfulness and acceptance guide — quiet, unrushed, comfortable sitting with things that can't be fixed. Mika teaches the difference between what you can change and what you can only carry.

Hi, I'm Mika. Over the next six weeks I'm not going to move you through stages or ask you to let go — we're going to build the skills for living alongside the waves, and keep a record of the life you're still building.

The dual-process model, taught through DBT

Still Here is built on Stroebe and Schut's dual-process model of grief — oscillation between loss-orientation and restoration-orientation, both necessary, neither more healed than the other. The mechanics are DBT's: radical acceptance aimed at the fact of the loss and never at feeling less about it, mindfulness of a current emotion applied to a grief wave, and meaningful action as the restoration engine.

  • Dual-process model of griefStroebe & Schut
  • Radical acceptance, aimed at the fact of the loss
  • Mindfulness of a current emotion
  • Meaningful action as restoration
The GAD-7 and a light depression screen run at onboarding — framed honestly as telling grief apart from a depressive episode that needs its own care, never as an instrument for pathologizing grief.
Ärlig om säkerhet

Three different answers, never blended

A very recent loss is a soft caution and never a lockout — it opens an immediate-support path with the full program available whenever you're ready, at your own say-so. Signals of complicated or prolonged grief open a lighter mode that runs alongside a named specialist referral, never instead of it, and it is not a content lockout. Suicidal ideation is the one hard gate here, holding everything past onboarding until support is confirmed.

A crisis-resources card is pinned for every user from onboarding onward, whatever their answers. Sudden or traumatic loss, and not currently being in professional care, are both non-gating — they produce a plain note, not a barrier. This is not medical advice, not grief therapy, and not a substitute for a bereavement group or a grief specialist.

Varför vi byggde det annorlunda

  • Six weeks with an end, and no counsellor to schedule. The structured options in grief come wrapped in live human support and priced for it. The self-guided options are open libraries you dip into. Still Here is a bounded curriculum you finish — and then keep.
  • Two records, kept side by side. A grief-wave log and a meaningful-action log, held together, so the record shows both halves: the waves as they come, and the life still visibly being built alongside them.
  • It reports, and never prescribes. Every other program in this catalog sets a target for the week. This one deliberately sets none — no ranked skills, no recommended focus, nothing to fall behind on. Grief isn't a performance to optimise.

Frågor

Innan du börjar

Will this make my grief smaller?

No, and that was never on offer. Nothing here measures success as less grief. What the record shows is that you're navigating the waves with more skill than you had six weeks ago, and that a life is still being built alongside the loss.

Is this the five stages of grief?

No — the program opens by setting that model down. Grief moves in waves, not stages, and the framework here is the dual-process model: oscillating between facing the loss and facing life, with neither treated as the healthier half.

Will it ask me to move on or find closure?

No. Week five reframes "moving on" directly, and the whole program is built around carrying a bond forward rather than closing one.

My loss was very recent. Should I wait?

That's yours to decide. A recent loss opens an immediate-support path rather than the full program, with everything available whenever you're ready — it's a caution, never a lockout.
