Steady Ground

Stabilization and coping after trauma (phase-1)

When something overwhelming has happened, the first job isn't to process it — it's to get steady. Six weeks of grounding, window-of-tolerance skills, trigger management, and sleep and routine stabilization, plus a clear path into real trauma therapy. We never ask you to relive what happened.

The aftermath has a shape, too

  • On edge or hypervigilant, most of the time, for no reason you can point to right now.
  • Easily flooded — a small thing tips you over, fast.
  • Numb or shut down, far away from your own life.
  • Jumpy, startling at ordinary things.
  • Sleepless, avoiding, or watching your world quietly get smaller.
Como funciona

Your stability log drives the program

Not a course you watch — a loop you run. Steady Ground reads how much of your week you spend in your window of tolerance and adjusts your grounding dose, the same way phase-1 stabilization works in a clinician's office.

1

Measure

A forty-five-second evening check-in — where your nervous system was today, what helped, and how you slept. Nothing about what happened.

Learn

Short sessions with Grace teach the method — the survival system, the window of tolerance, grounding, triggers.

Adjust

The weekly review reads your time-in-window and adjusts your grounding dose and resource kit.

60%time-in-window target

Time-in-window is the number the program tracks — the share of logged days you spend steady, rather than wound-up or shut down. Clear it and the dose holds, with one resource added to widen your kit. Fall under 35% and the program adds a gentle grounding to your day — never toward the memory, only ever toward more ground.

Grace

High-caution clinical care · conduz 4 programas

The senior clinician for the heavier material — unhurried, deeply serious about safety, and honest about when self-help isn't the right door.

Hi, I'm Grace. Over the next six weeks we're not going to touch what happened — we're going to get your nervous system steady enough to do that work with a person, when you're ready.
As evidências

Phase-one stabilization, faithfully built

Steady Ground implements consensus phase-based trauma treatment — Judith Herman's safety-and-stabilization phase, the window-of-tolerance model, and polyvagal-informed grounding — deliberately scoped to stabilization only. It never asks you to recount, describe, or process the event; that work belongs to trauma-focused therapy, and this program's job is getting you steady enough to start it.

  • Phase-based trauma treatmentsafety & stabilization phase, Herman
  • Window-of-tolerance modelSiegel; Ogden
  • Polyvagal-informed grounding
  • Structured referral to trauma-focused therapy
Measured like a clinic: your Steady Ground check-in at baseline, midpoint, and finish — so your progress is a number you can see, not a feeling you have to argue yourself into.
Transparência sobre segurança

This is not the trauma treatment

Steady Ground is phase-one stabilization only. It never asks you to relive, recount, or write about what happened — the stability log and trigger map track your current state and current triggers, never trauma content. Finding real trauma-focused therapy — EMDR, TF-CBT, and others — is treated as core content, not a disclaimer: a full session is built around how to find it and get past the barriers to starting it.

Any sign of active crisis or suicidality puts crisis support at the top of every screen immediately, alongside the program, not instead of it. This program is not medical advice, and it is not the trauma treatment itself.

Perguntas

Antes de começar

Will this make me talk about what happened?

No — never. Steady Ground has no field, prompt, or exercise that asks you to recount, describe, or relive the event. The daily log tracks how today went, not what happened.

Is this instead of trauma therapy?

No — it's the bridge to it. This program is phase-one stabilization only; the actual treatment for trauma is trauma-focused therapy with a person, and a full session is built around finding that treatment and getting past the barriers to starting it.

What if I'm in crisis?

Crisis resources sit at the top of every screen, always, and if your onboarding answers show active risk, they lead immediately — alongside the stabilization tools, never in place of them.

How much time does it take?

Forty-five seconds each evening for the stability log, and ten to fifteen minutes most days for the session. The work is steadying the system enough to carry the deeper work later.
